Centre for Japanese Economic Studies
The Centre encourages research and study of the Japanese economy. To this end it promotes scholarly exchange and analysis, public events and course offerings.
The Centre's Biennial Conferences draw together world-renowned scholars to discuss pressing issues regarding the Japanese economy. Edited volumes of 1996 and 1998 conferences are available in print from Edward Elgar Publishing.
Regular seminars yield CJES Research Papers that reach a worldwide audience of researchers and institutions. Public outreach programs include luncheons, media interviews and testimony before parliamentary committees.
The Centre has also promoted innovative new degree programs allowing students to combine the best of business skills, language ability and knowledge of the Japanese economy, institutions and social structure.
